5 Apple Arcade games I just can’t quit
If Xbox Game Pass is the best offer in gaming, Apple Arcade is second only. Launched in September 2019 for just $ 4.99 a month, it puts an extensive and exclusive library of the best games from the best mobile game developers in your pocket on your iPhone, as well as offering exactly the same library at iPad, Mac and Apple. TV, too, with desations in the cloud.
While the more expensive Xbox Game Pass has a library of titles that runs regularly, Apple Arcade has the distinctive advantage of being a constantly growing catalog, with Apple regularly adding more new and classic titles to the service each month. without eliminating any long-term ones. favorites. Apple Arcade is getting bigger and bigger, with all the games available at launch still to play today.
Which is a good thing, as many of them are highly addictive. While there are a good number of “unique and fact-based” games in Apple Arcade, such as the wonderful Assemble With Care and Sayanora Wild Hearts, many arcade games have been expertly tweaked to keep you hooked for years. These are the five Apple Arcade games I’ve been playing for months.

Wonderbox: The Adventure Maker
Have you ever played a Zelda game and thought, “Could I do something better than that?” No? Probably not: Zelda games are great. But it’s likely that at one time or another you enjoyed trying your hand at creating a video game adventure. Wonderbox: The Adventure Maker allows you to do just that.
The game allows you to create a series of interconnected dioramas to create your own adventure. From wet castles to snow-capped peaks, you can fill them with all sorts of cute characters and monstrous creatures, with secrets to find and treasures to discover. Think of an isometric Minecraft and you’re almost there, with Wonderbox allowing you to share your creations with its growing community of players, as well as download adventures made by other players. Game Center also allows you to play any adventure you like with a few friends.
It’s a shame that the Apple TV version doesn’t include the same game creation options as the other versions of Wonderbox; here we expect the rumored edition rights focused on Apple TV games to be wrong.
To know Peggle is to love Peggle, to play Diablo is to be addicted to Diablo. What if you could combine the two? Roundguard grabs the basic mechanics of Peggle’s precision pinball and house you with a cute roguelike dungeon tracker that will hook you up completely.
Instead of just throwing pegs at the board, you’ll shoot a hero against skeletons, spiders, goblins and more, collecting treasures and using power-ups to get as far as you can through the ever-changing maze of levels on offer.
With tons of different items to discover, game modifiers to try, and powers to master, there are dozens of hours of fun to spend, maybe even hundreds, considering the recent introduction of “Encore Mode,” which increases significantly the challenge.

The best Apple Arcade game of all? Probably: Grindstone is as addictive now as it was in its first release with the release of Arcade in 2019. In many ways, it’s similar to the previous Roundguard game. It also needs a Cartoon Network-style aesthetic and wraps it around two key infusions of the game’s mechanics: in this case, dungeon tracking and jewelry combination puzzle games.
What this doesn’t explain is how crazy the game is. As a muscular barbarian who cuts and paves your way through fantasy enemies on your way to your next treasure, the developers of Capybara Games expertly offer satisfying feedback on each stroke. As your combos are chained together and your killing of comics becomes more extravagant, so is the feverish way in which your character’s bloody killings unfold.
Enjoyed by Adventure Time, almost three years after release and I still don’t have enough.

Clap Hanz Golf
It doesn’t matter if you’ve ever taken a club in your life, if you know a driver for a wedge, or if you can identify Augusta with a playground on the beach – golf is one of those strangely universal sports among fans of games. A satisfying swing from a Wii remote or a long-range bird using a couple of one-touch buttons, golf has been well digitized for decades.
Few developers have succeeded as well as Clap Hanz, responsible for making Everybody’s Golf games accessible but deep for two decades. Leaving behind this franchise name for Apple Arcade, it is essentially the same series with a different name with Clap Hanz Golf.
Years of experience pay off in the exclusive Arcade: Whether you play on a gamepad or a touch screen, the game has an average of 18 holes, allowing you to pull out precision units and expert chips. Don’t let the colorful cast of collectible golfers influence you – this is a suitable golf game with a lot to offer. With regular seasons, challenges and a smart RPG-style leveling system, it’s an Apple Arcade game that should definitely not be missed.

Lego Star Wars: Castaways
That very, very distant galaxy (you know the one) is always better enjoyed with friends, and there is no reinterpretation of George Lucas ’beloved science fiction universe more than the one conceived by the Lego geniuses. With Lego Star Wars: Castaways you get the best shared world experience of Star Wars from the MMO of The Old Republic.
A kid-friendly action adventure, set between Destiny and Diablo, that offers top-down missions to face off with friends as you level up your Star Wars minifigure for more adventures. Sometimes it gets a little thick, but the unlockables are great and the Star Wars world came to love. Vehicle missions, in particular, are visual delights, and as good as anything offered by the recent Lego Star Wars: Skywalker Saga console games.
