Apple iPads are great at all sorts of things, but they’re not particularly good at being e-readers, probably because that’s not what they are. Amazon’s Kindle is an especially good e-reader and now has new competition in the form of Barnes & Noble’s Nook GlowLight 4e.

Designed to be a cheaper version of the existing GlowLight 4, this new offer will cost buyers $ 119.99 and they can book it now. For their money they will get an E Ink screen that reaches 6 inches and 212 ppi, according to the report by The Verge. It is powered by USB-C and has 8GB of internal storage, which is fair if not innovative. The product is more expensive than the Kindle’s $ 89.99 asking price, but it has a slightly better screen, so here it is.

  • EReader lightweight perfect for going or staying at home
  • 8 GB of storage houses a large digital library
  • Adjustable headlight makes it easy for the eyes to read
  • Physical buttons or swipe fingers turn pages
  • Members save 10% off all NOOK tablets, e-readers and accessories

One thing the LowLight 4e can boast of its competition is the addition of old buttons to change pages, which Amazon abandoned some time ago. The best Kindles that Amazon sells today are about sliding and sliding, something that could discourage many people. For these, the GlowLight 4e might be the best choice.

However, these people will have to wait a while for their new e-reader to arrive. Barnes & Noble says it will start buying on June 7 in the color you want, as long as it’s black.
