Bow Valley College acquires funding for seats to support more students


Calgary, May 16, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Bow Valley College announces it has received $ 4.6 million from the Alberta government to add significantly more seats to six of its programs. These 426 seats will enable the College to support students on their path to employment in key sectors of the province’s industry, such as health, technology and the arts of entertainment.

“With the addition of these critical additional seats, Bow Valley College continues to demonstrate our commitment to the development of job-ready graduates in all of Alberta’s current and emerging sectors,” says Dr. Misheck Mwaba, President and CEO of Bow Valley College. “Bow Valley College is constantly exploring new and innovative ways to help employers hire the right people, with the right skills, quickly,” says Dr. Mwaba.

The College is adding places to the following programs:

• Certificate of Business Administration

• Certificate of health assistant

• Diploma in Practical Nursing

• Diploma in Information Technology Systems

• Diploma in Software Development

• Certificate of Foundation in Performing Arts

“Whether they are beginning their careers or in pivotal industries, students entering any of these programs at the University will see the benefits of their time and effort invested in the classroom,” says Michael Crowe, vice president of Bow Valley. College. Academic. “Expanding these programs means we can open doors to even brighter minds who plan to take the next step in their careers,” Crowe says.

“Bow Valley College Student Association (SABVC) is excited to hear about the 426 new places open to national students in six programs starting this fall,” said Dhruv Jani, Director of External Affairs at SABVC. “SABVC applauds Bow Valley College and the Ministry of Advanced Education for working together to expand programs for Bow Valley College students within the opportunity-rich sectors of Alberta’s job market,” says Jani.

These additional places will be available from this September quarter and applications for these programs are now open.
