The Centenary Stage Company, a non-profit professional theater company residing on the campus of Centenary University in Hackettstown, NJ, is looking for applicants for the 2022-23 internship program.

The internship program is designed to offer each intern the opportunity to explore all facets of the theater business, from administration to performance and production. The program is aimed at applicants who have completed their undergraduate training and who seek to bridge the gap between their academic career and the professional theater industry while offering young artists a place to build their first careers. The aim of the program is to provide interns with a clear understanding of how the theater business works at all levels, providing real-world experience in a practical, fast-paced environment, gaining experience in a variety of skills through a wide range of range of skills. Interns will also work alongside and directly with industry professionals, both resident artists and nationally renowned professional guest artists, offering unique networking opportunities.

This is a paid internship with a monthly salary. Fellows participating in the Young Audience Series tour program will receive an additional performance scholarship when appropriate. No housing offered. All applicants must be locally rented with the capacity to travel. Internships are a one-year commitment from the start date. Flexible availability for the afternoon and weekend according to the required event calendar.

All interns, regardless of the specific area of ​​focus, will work closely with CSC staff and gain extensive training in day-to-day operations and business management, including marketing, development, fundraising, outreach assistance. community and educational, business management, patronage. relationships, content creation, social media participation, web development and maintenance, and all other administrative initiatives. Interns will be proficient with Theater Manager, the ticketing software widely used by North American performing arts organizations, as well as various other software programs used by the organization, including , the complete suite of Microsoft Office and various Adobe software, including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.

Performance-focused fellows will have the opportunity to audition and, if written, perform in productions on the CSC’s main stage. Although the internship does not guarantee performance functions in the productions of the main stage of the CSC, it does promise opportunities for performance to those interested. Performance-focused fellows can earn Equity Points through the Equity Membership Candidacy Program (EMC) if they join a major CSC production operating under a contract of the Actors Equity Association (AEA). In addition, inmates will have the opportunity to perform with the CSC Young Audience Series Touring program. Fellows participating in the CSC Young Audience Series tour program will receive an additional scholarship for performance.
