Cybersecurity watchdog asks lawyers for help in the fight against ransomware


Whether or not to pay a ransomware lawsuit has long been a constant enigma to organizations around the world, and the UK government has decidedly told lawyers to advise its clients not to pay.

A joint letter from the Information Commissioner (ICO) and the National Cybersecurity Center (NCSC) to the Law Society said that the payment of ransomware “encourages more harmful behavior by malicious actors and does not guarantee the decryption of networks or the return of stolen data “.
