Hammond joins Arts Hub – Waupaca County Post
Piano teacher to teach advanced classes in Waupaca
Kathy Hammond, a former choral director at Waupaca High School, has joined the Waupaca Community Arts Hub.
He will teach voice and piano lessons for middle and high school students of all ages.
“We are thrilled to have a music teacher with so much depth and experience joining the Arts Hub,” said Hub Director Laura Colbert. “Kathy Hammond takes the Hub’s music lessons offering to a new level, allowing us to offer advanced piano and voice lessons to the Waupaca community.”
Hammond is a working musician who brings 33 years of experience in music education to the Arts Hub. He also teaches at Noteworthy Music Studio in Stevens Point, and in addition to the Waupaca School District, he has taught music in the Winneconne and Appleton School Districts.
She is a member of the classic rock bands STEEM, K&J Duo with her husband John and the vocal ensemble Jazz Central Voices.
Hammond has sung professionally at various theme parks and in Las Vegas, as well as with the Big Band Reunion and The Dean’s List Big Band.
She has also conducted worship music as a pianist, singer and choir director at several churches in Northeast Wisconsin. He has accompanied the Oshkosh Chamber Singers, many high school musicals and college student recitals.
Hammond holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, and a master’s degree in educational technology from Marian University.
She is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, which serves statewide as the coordinator of the Wisconsin Choral Directors All State Choral Project, and as a former faculty member of the WCDA Vocal Jazz Institute.
She has also worked as a vocal coach for various summer camps, including the WSMA Honors Project Choral Camps and the UW-Green Bay Jazz on the Bay Camp. Appears in Who’s Who Among American Teachers.
