How to develop a future-proof cloud platform for retail
Retail ecosystems are constantly evolving.
Technological development and consumer demand for comfort and flexibility in their shopping trips are the main drivers of the digital transformation, which has accelerated during the pandemic. As a result, traders are forced to endure parallel travel, as well as to adapt and improve business operations in different areas. This means focusing on the development of easily adaptable customer and staff travel and flexible store configurations.
Behind the scenes, however, this can be difficult to execute. Traditional ways of managing retail stores and processes will no longer work. Retailers need to take a comprehensive end-to-end approach, where travel, shopping, and business operations are managed together, and where changing one part of the equation will immediately affect any other part. In fact, software solutions designed for single-use cases are isolated and therefore hinder innovation and make it difficult to deliver current shopping experiences. In addition, they are difficult to upgrade to meet evolving demands, making it impossible for retailers to support new travel processes and innovations.
To overcome these challenges, we believe that a comprehensive innovation strategy is needed. It must be a strategy that connects business and technology innovation. This requires a highly responsive software platform that allows retailers to shift all gears simultaneously, orchestrate consumer travel from the cloud while integrating with existing store ecosystems of contact points and software applications, and easily inject modern solutions. in a structured way. In other words, retailers need a software platform that connects travel easily, expands stores flexibly, and operates retail businesses efficiently.
To achieve this, a paradigm shift in software development is needed. The software industry is already changing from exclusive to inclusive. Standalone, monolithic, and isolated software solutions are a thing of the past now that the world is increasingly connected and integrated. In the future, software deliveries will be part of a continuous and accelerated cycle of innovation where the software solution is constantly enriched to support the continuous evolution of consumer and staff travel.
The conclusion? Maximum interoperability, agility and scalability are required to meet the demands of the “store of the future”, which will serve as a platform for both the customer’s shopping experience and the realization between channels.
This can only be achieved if it is built correctly from the beginning. It requires a different way of thinking about how to design and build future software solutions, that is, with customer-centric planning to ensure that your expectations are met; continuous integration and delivery methods to ensure situation-oriented functionality; and a native cloud design to optimize efficiency and IT spending. Retailers should also consider software development based on application programming interfaces (APIs) to allow all applications to interact with operating systems, microservices, and external data.
This is exactly what we did when we developed our new native cloud software platform for retail: Vynamic Retail Platform. We’ve created a new native cloud software platform from scratch for maximum scalability, security, and performance. Open APIs allow for seamless integration to take the best approach to the ecosystem, while feature-rich microservices ensure high scalability that simplifies travel composition and adaptation, and peripheral computing functionality provides offline availability. We offer different deployment scenarios, including as a service, with Microsoft Azure as a preferred partner, and we constantly use industry standards and cloud technologies for secure configuration and optimal performance.
We believe this is the only way to achieve real scalability, security, and performance in the cloud. Hosted as a service, leveraging open APIs and modular microservices, and offering industry-leading packages, Vynamic Retail Platform is a modern cloud solution that supports connected, flexible and efficient shopping experiences for customers. It is easily adaptable to all specific needs, with predictable investments for retailers. In short, it is designed natively to address the demands of digital transformation travel of retailers.
