Currently, the Python programming language is offered as an elective as part of the JNTU-H curriculum.

Hyderabad: With the demand for the Python programming language, all students of Jawaharlal Nehru-Hyderabad University of Technology will be required to follow and master it from the next academic year.

Python, a popular programming language, is used for web development, software development, system scripts, connecting database systems, as well as managing big data and performing complex math.

The idea of making this programming language mandatory for all Engineering and Business Management programs is to help students acquire enough employability skills to help them get a job. The university has taken this decision during the joint meetings of the Board of Studies held recently to review the curricula of the UG and PG.

Currently, the Python programming language is offered as an option. “Candidates with Python programming language skills are being sued. Thus, regardless of the departments, language learning has become compulsory for all students, “said a senior official.

Value-added courses

In addition to the existing electives offered as part of the curriculum, JNTU-Hyderabad introduces value-added courses that students can take from the next academic year. Some courses include 3D printing, artificial intelligence, automation and robotics, and cybersecurity. A student, regardless of the department, will be able to take these courses and obtain the necessary certification.

In another important decision, the university has improved the internal evaluation from 25% to 40%. This means that the end-of-semester exams will be conducted for only 60 points. A total of 40 percent of internal work is divided into written tests, PowerPoint presentations, and poster presentations, among others.

A student must complete 160 credits to earn a BTech degree. “The university has made the assessment system more user-friendly to ensure that they have better control of the subject with more hands-on learning,” a senior official said.
