LR appoints new Chief Technology and Innovation Officer.
Lloyd’s Register has appointed Chakib Abi-Saab to his new role as Director of Technology and Innovation (CTIO).
Abi-Saab, who was previously in Bahri (formerly known as the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia) as director of technology, joins LR with considerable experience in technology and digital empowerment from both the maritime industry and oil and gas. Prior to his stint with Bahri, Abi-Saab held executive positions at ship management company OSM, offshore energy provider Bumi Armada and oil and gas service provider Baker Hughes.
CTIO’s new position will involve merging the roles of technology and IT director, aligning the executive leadership team as LR accelerates its transformation and supports its innovation activities focused on maritime digitization.

The appointment follows the expansion of LR’s existing digital solutions with the recent acquisition of OneOcean, a leading provider of travel, security and environmental compliance solutions.
