In an evolving technology world, Fisher College of Business is creating a new graduate certificate program to help information technology professionals keep up to date. $ 5.3 trillion industry.

Starting in the fall, the fully online program will be completed with eight courses in more than 10 months, awarding a degree in IT business strategy. The program will cost $ 19,570 for state students and $ 20,170 for out-of-state students, according to the Web of the Faculty of Business.

“It’s a very forward-looking program,” McAndrew said. “They’re learning the skills needed to respond to things that happen in the future.”

Jennie McAndrew, coordinator of the Fisher Executive Education program, said the program focuses on three components: a leadership program, a resume, and a faculty project completed with a project coach.

IT is one of the fastest growing industries, with technology employment expected to grow at around twice the global employment rate in the US, according to CompTIA non-profit trade association. By 2030, more than 9 million IT jobs are expected in the U.S., the world’s largest technology marketplace.

The courses in this program combine both business and technological aspects, according to a university press release. The classes, which will be a combination of synchronous and asynchronous work, will cover topics such as critical thinking, data analytics for executives, strategy, and technology and technology finance.

Meredith Conder, executive director of business education at the Faculty of Business, said the graduate certificate was developed for IT professionals with the help of IT leaders.

“We didn’t develop it in a vacuum,” Conder said. “We developed it hand in hand with the CIOs and the IT leaders who were in the trenches, doing the work and seeing the need.”

Conder said the graduate certificate is designed to help IT professionals increase their credibility and advance their careers. He said IT professionals are now expected to not only work with technology, but become business leaders, such as CEOs and CEOs.

The first cohort of this program will begin on August 23 and end on June 30, 2023, according to the website. More information can be found at registering and attend a virtual briefing on Thursdays from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m.

Conder said that because of events such as the COVID-19 pandemic, IT leaders are now receiving more recognition than in the past. He said he now expects more from these leaders, which is why he believes this program is so essential.

“[IT professionals] You don’t have time to go to school, or look for a mentor, and get five more years of experience on how to do it, “Conder said.” Many of them are now in situations where they are being he asks them to make things happen now. ”
