S. Korea, Malaysia hold virtual cybersecurity session of ASEAN-related defense forum

South Korea and Malaysia jointly held a virtual sub-table session of a regional defense forum on Tuesday involving the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to discuss co-operation on cybersecurity, the ministry said of defense of Seoul.

The cybersecurity working group of experts from the ASEAN-Plus Meeting of Defense Ministers (ADMM-Plus) kicked off the two-day session as Seoul seeks to deepen cooperation with the regional bloc on multiple fronts, including the security.

South Korea and Malaysia are the co – chairs of the working group for a three – year term ending in 2024.

Participants in this week’s session are scheduled to discuss joint responses to cybersecurity threats and study cybersecurity training plans among member countries scheduled for October.

ADMM-Plus is a major advocacy dialogue platform that includes all 10 ASEAN members, as well as other key regional actors, including the United States, China, and Japan. Under the platform, there are several working groups dealing with cybersecurity, maritime security, the fight against terrorism and other issues. (Yonhap)
