Lynelle Morgenthaler joins Smarter Balanced
SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 13, 2022 / PRNewswire / – Smarter Balanced is pleased to announce the hiring of Lynelle Morgenthaler as the new executive director of the program. Morgenthaler brings more than 20 years of executive experience in educational technology, with deep roots in education, learning and assessment, technology and people development.

Smarter Balanced Dynamic Tool System, developed in collaboration with our members and educators, is a balanced assessment system aligned with standards and provides teachers with lessons, activities, and methods for assessing progress.

Morgenthaler comes to Smarter Balanced most recently from Edmentum, where she served as Vice President of Learning Design and Assessment. His impressive training also includes leadership positions at Compass Learning, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and QBS Learning. Throughout her 20-year career as an executive in educational technology, Morgenthaler has consistently focused on serving educators and improving student outcomes. He has a master’s degree in education focused on English learners University of Pennsylvania and began her career as a classroom teacher.
As head of the executive program, Morgenthaler will provide Smarter Balanced supervision and strategic direction around psychometry, product and test design, element development, teaching and learning, data analysis. and accessibility to Smarter Balanced tools.
