Tap to Pay with iPhone, a new payment system that will allow people to accept payments with nothing more than an iPhone, will be available to members of Square’s new early access program this summer, the company has confirmed.

Announced in a press release, the new program will allow a limited number of people to test the implementation of Tap to Pay Stripe with iPhone before its full release.

Square announced today that it is working with Apple to enable Tap to Pay on the iPhone, Apple’s contactless payment capability, within the Square Point of Sale app. The new offering allows sellers of all sizes to seamlessly and securely accept contactless payments in person with just an iPhone and Square’s industry-leading POS app. Before publicly launching the service later this year, Square also announced an early access to Tap to Pay program on the iPhone, which will allow selected vendors to start testing the new technology.

Currently, people who want to accept payments with an iPhone will need to use a third-party accessory. With Tap to Pay with iPhone, this requirement is completely removed.

Square points out that access to the early access program is limited and that people who want to participate can get more information on the company’s website now.

Tap to Pay could be the best feature for iPhone for small businesses, as it would allow them to accept both Apple Pay and contactless card payments with ease.
