Sunday Security launches a cybersecurity service for senior execs – TechCrunch
Traditionally, cybersecurity has always focused on what can be hacked and not so much on who might be most at risk. Sunday Security, which launches today and announces a $ 4 million initial round of funding, is trying to change that by offering cyber risk protection for senior executives and other key personnel.
Founded by industry veterans Zack Ganot (CEO) and Shaked Barkan (CTO), who previously led cybersecurity consultancy Pandora Security, which also focused on high-profile people, Sunday Security argues that as Business cybersecurity tools, attackers are shifting their focus to individuals. Not surprisingly, this often means targeting those who can provide key access to an organization’s data and systems. Traditionally, companies offer security awareness and executive protection programs for these users, but Sunday Security argues that their service is much more complete.
“We raise cyber risk protection for senior executives and key staff across the spectrum of their online digital identities and interactions,” Ganot said. “We see it as a diagram where people’s personal and professional lives overlap. For the company, it is a matter of protecting the company from the vector of personal attack. For the executive, who does not have the luxury of keeping his work and personal life separate, we offer peace of mind knowing that they will not be hacked. “
The team also argues, based on its experience in the consulting business, that manual and educational solutions are not effective or scalable, especially because, all too often, the real problem is the personal accounts of an executive in services such as Gmail or Dropbox. This is not an attack surface controlled or supervised by traditional business security. But executives also don’t want the computer to examine their private accounts.
“Unlike our competitors, we believe that the right approach to solving the problem of personal cybersecurity is through a B2B2C partnership: enhancing the security of your employees and executives by providing them with an effective” off-premises “solution. “to the problem, as it is done. in the health / mental health space”, explained Ganot. “Our platform helps organizations to create effective protection around their key personnel, without violating the criticism ‘church and state’ between his personal and professional life. “
The Sunday Security service is a SaaS solution in itself, which can be connected to existing enterprise security platforms. The service continuously searches for fishing attacks and hijacking, enforces password hygiene and more. All of this, of course, only works as long as users link all their accounts to the platform.
The company’s $ 4 million seed round was led by MoreVC, with security executives and business people in attendance as former AT&T CEO John Donovan, Palo Alto Networks CBO Amit Singh and the president of the company for its global market unit Shailesh Rao, as well as Tom Kemp, the founder and former CEO of Centrify.
