TikTok is testing a new feature that will remove all buttons and text from videos to make them easier to watch without being distracted. The feature, called “Clear Mode,” is now being tested with a limited number of people.

The feature, first shared by a Twitter user and tacat by a social media consultant Matt Navarra, is activated by tapping a new “Clear Mode” button that gives TikTok users a new, cleaner interface that removes things like comments, the name of the song used in the video, and more. It seems that information can be retrieved with a quick tap, if necessary.

TikTok usually has a lot of buttons and information on the screen at any one time, including a share button and more. Removing this whole plot could make the video browsing and viewing experience more enjoyable, though it remains to be seen if TikTok will release this updated feature to everyone in the future.

TechCrunch reports that when asked, TikTok had no comment to make about the new feature, but with a seemingly small test pool, “clear mode” may still be in the early days of testing. TikTok might be looking to see how many times people use the feature, not to mention when they have to leave it later to share content. If “delete mode” makes content less likely to be shared, it could be one that is in the junk.

TikTok is currently one of the best iPhone apps for sharing and watching short videos, and it’s always promising to see companies looking to change things up. Hopefully yours will be a feature that comes out of testing and on everyone’s devices.
