WIS ED Assists in Increasing the Cybersecurity Workforce by Delivering High Quality Cybersecurity Courses | Local News


BALTIMORE, Maryland, July 7, 2022, (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) – WIS ED LLC (WIS ED) has partnered with Tech Quest Apprenticeship, a national initiative led by Clark University School of Professional Studies, to offer information technology (IT) and cybernetics -Pre-learning and learning related to unemployed workers, underemployed and incumbents until 2023.

Tech Quest Apprenticeship and WIS ED LLC partnered to maximize the impact of their grant from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Employment and Training Administration Learning.

According to the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE):

* There is an estimated global shortage of 3.12 million cyber professionals.

* 50% of respondents, recruitment managers say that applicants do not have the necessary qualifications to perform cyber tasks.

* As of April 2021, in the US, there are 464,420 job offers in total cybersecurity and 956,341 total cybersecurity workers.

It is because of this need that WIS ED was established: addressing the digital skills, e-learning and education gap at all levels of education. An apprenticeship channel is a key part of the strategy to create this workforce, hence the partnership with Tech Quest at Clark University. Tech Quest helps people 17 years of age or older who are unemployed, underemployed, or are incumbent workers who need new skills.

Together, WIS ED and Tech Quest provide assistance in developing and expanding pre-learning / learning programs for the following profession: Cyber ​​Security Analyst. To increase its reach, WIS ED will also add software engineering and information technology job titles to its apprenticeship program. Tech Quest grant funding is focused on eight states: California, Florida, Massachusetts, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Oregon and Texas. The scope of WIS ED in Maryland and other states supports Tech Quest efforts as well as helps with employment opportunities for workers residing in these communities.
